Coronavirus Update – March 16, 2020

March 16, 2020

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues, we want to make sure we communicate as effectively as possible. A daily briefing will be distributed as follows:

  • resident in house mailboxes
  • channel 918, the in-house channel
  • email for those we have an address for
  • a shortened version will be posted on our website at https://glenmeadow.org/blog/
  • printed and kept in a binder at our Concierge desk

We continue to take direction from Longmeadow’s Emergency Management personnel who provide us regular advice and guidance, as well as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MPH), and LeadingAge, our national association of nonprofit providers.

Here is today’s briefing:

  • The 6-foot rule, reducing exposure, and handwashing are the most effective forms of prevention.
    • Please cancel any nonessential appointments and social outings. Your fellow residents have expressed concerns – this is a community, please be respectful of others and don’t increase everyone’s risk.
    • Know that meal deliveries from Dining are available at no charge.
    • Grocery deliveries can be ordered online from Stop and Shop at https://www.peapod.com/ and from Big Y at https://www.instacart.com/big-y. If you need us to coordinate this for you, please bring a list to the Concierge.
    • The resident store continues to remain open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am – noon.
    • If you are moving offsite to live with a family member, please let the Concierge know. As a reminder, we cannot guarantee the timing of when you will be able to return.
  • With Ruth closing the salon, two staff members have offered their services. T and T Salon (Tavia and Torrie) will offer limited salon services Monday – Friday, from 1 – 3 pm. Sign up in half-hour increments for a wash, set, blow dry, styling, or manicure at the Concierge.
  • FaceTime and Skype may be a good way to communicate with your family and friends. If you need help with the software, please contact the Concierge and they will arrange for Patrick to help you.
  • We are implementing a relaxed dress code for staff.
  • We continue to look at ways to improve the delivery of our services, while working with the directives and guidelines we are being given. Please prioritize this daily briefing, channel 918, and the website for the latest information.
  • If you are experiencing any health-related symptoms, please call the nurse at 413-567-7800 – the Concierge will connect you.

The safety and well-being of our residents and staff continues to be our priority. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and kindness as we all navigate this difficult time. We understand you may have questions and concerns. Please feel free to speak with me if you need more information. I can be reached at 413-355-5950.
