Today’s resident briefing from Glenmeadow President and CEO Anne Thomas:

  • Meal delivery update:
    • Good news: effective immediately, we are increasing the Independent Living meal allowance from $400 per person to $600 per person to allow you to order a sandwich without going over your allowance – there will be no increase to your monthly fee. (This doesn’t apply to Assisted Living residents, since all meals are already included in the monthly fee.)
    • IMPORTANT: You must remove the plastic or paper covers before you reheat in the microwave. Failure to do that may result in sparks, smoking, or a fire.
    • They have to be cleaned first, but meal containers and covers can be placed in the recycling bin.
  • Please contact Meghan Reynolds with all grocery and pharmacy requests, but first reach out to a family member, so that everyone is helped.
    • Friends and family members may be a good resource if they know of a store that still has a selection. If you don’t have a friend or family member who can drop something off for you, please call Meghan at 355-5904 and let her know what you need.
    • Many grocery items are in short supply, so please limit your requests to the essentials and expect that some items will not be available.
    • Given the shortages, we are doing the shopping online – all of these sources are also experiencing delays.
    • Due to the shortages, we will suspend activity in the resident store for now.
    • Please be aware that family caregivers and private aides (anyone not hired, trained, and supervised by Glenmeadow) must remain in the resident’s apartment while in the building.
      • If this policy is not adhered to, the caregiver will not be allowed into the building. Instead, we will add support through CareShare program and the resident will be charged.
    • Communications:
      • We can make a short video clip of you that can be emailed to a friend or family member. If you would like to schedule a time, please call Laura Lavoie at 355-5905 or Linda Edwards at 355-5908.
      • The resident briefing is available for family and friends on our website at https://glenmeadow.org/blog/. We are no longer emailing daily, but have mailed a printed summary that families will receive by the beginning of next week.
      • Don’t forget that copies of all the previous briefings are in the binder at the Concierge if you think you missed something.
    • We need to continue to stress the importance of the 6-foot rule, reducing exposure, and handwashing. These are the most effective forms of prevention.
      • NEW SUGGESTION: Door handles and elevator buttons are a prime location for germs. Our housekeeping crew (including extra staff) are cleaning them often, but be mindful and try to use your elbow, shirttail, or sleeve to touch buttons and turn handles. A paper towel or fresh Kleenex could also be used if you dispose of it afterward.
    • Many religious organizations offer services broadcast online and on TV.
      • Residents have been given a separate sheet with the information we have.

As always, please continue to reach out to me and the rest of the management staff if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached at 413-355-5950.
