We Create Family

Tanya Snell, Resident, Independent Living

Glenmeadow resident Tanya Snell

The challenge: Tanya Snell and her late husband, Peter, lived in northeastern Pennsylvania for many years, but as they got older, they decided they wanted to live closer to their children—spread out in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. The two visited Glenmeadow and “fell in love” immediately.

Our assist: Our broad scope of activities and our friendly, intelligent residents engaged Tanya and Peter and made them feel welcome, even as newcomers. “We are really like a family,” Tanya says, noting that after her husband passed away—only five months after they’d moved in—residents were comforting and supportive. “Everybody cares for each other. After Peter passed away, I was delighted that I was here. I would hate to be living by myself. I want to be out and be busy.”

The result: Tanya has many friends, and she does indeed stay active. She works in the Glenmeadow store, serves on the Resident’s Council, runs neighborhood parties, plays bridge, and takes exercise classes. “I can’t say enough wonderful things about Glenmeadow,” she says. “It keeps me busy with things to do. People here feel like my brothers and sisters.”
