We Make People from Afar Feel at Home

The challenge: As Ruth and her late husband, Maurice, grew older, they decided they wanted to live closer to their daughter, who lives in this region. “We visited her on a Thanksgiving,” Ruth recalls. “We went back to Florida and put our house on the market.”

Our assist: At first, Ruth felt somewhat intimidated by the fact that many of our residents have known one another for years. “Many people here grew up together,” she says. “We were strangers to the town and to the area, yet we didn’t feel that way. We were welcomed right in, immediately. It was a good feeling.”

The result: Ruth has taken advantage of many of our offerings. She works in our Glenmeadow store, is chairman of our Food Committee, and she plays bridge most afternoons. She enjoys dining with all of her Glenmeadow friends. “It’s a great place to be,” she says. “I’m very happy here, with everything about Glenmeadow. Everyone is so friendly.” She adds, “Move while you can enjoy it—and can enjoy it with your partner.”
